THE VETERINARY MEDICAL BOARD IS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT TO THE MULTIDISCIPLINARY ADVISORY COMMITTEE

APRIL 2014

The Veterinary Medical Board (Board) is seeking candidates for appointment to its nine-member Multidisciplinary Advisory Committee (MDC). Currently, the Board is seeking letters of interest for one veterinarian and one registered veterinary technician vacancy. The MDC term will begin upon appointment and will go through June 2017

The MDC assists the Board in its deliberation of issues important to consumer protection and the veterinary medical profession in California. For example, the MDC has recently worked on updating citation and fine guidelines and the minimum standards of professional practice. Members will be expected to attend approximately three meetings annually during their term. Upon appointment, MDC members are required to comply with all State requirements and submit disclosure documents (Form 700) on Economic Conflicts of Interest with the Fair Political Practices Commission.

Licensees interested in seeking appointment to the MDC should provide a letter of interest addressed to the Board and any supporting background information the candidate desires to submit. Background information may include letters of recommendation, the candidate’s reasons for seeking appointment, a statement of understanding of the nature of regulatory bodies within the Department of Consumer Affairs or whatever other information the candidate believes is pertinent and would best assist the Board in making its decision on these appointments.

Letters of interest for appointment should be mailed to the Board at:

Veterinary Medical Board
1747 N. Market Blvd., Suite 230
Sacramento, California 95834

Letters of interest will be accepted until the appointment has been made; however, letters received by 5 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2014, will be considered at the Board’s
July 22, 2014, meeting in Sacramento, California.

Interviews will be conducted and appointments to the position will be made at the July 22, 2014 Board meeting. The Board will notify candidates who have been selected for an interview.

Questions regarding applications should be directed to Paul Sanchez or Ethan Mathes at (916) 515-5220.
