THE VETERINARY MEDICAL BOARD IS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FROM LICENSEES FOR APPOINTMENT TO ITS MULTIDISCIPLINARY ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The Veterinary Medical Board (Board) is seeking candidates for appointment to its seven-member Multidisciplinary Advisory Committee (MDC). Currently, the Board is seeking letters of interest from veterinarians for one vacancy. The MDC term will begin upon appointment and will go through June 2013

The MDC assists the Board in its deliberation of issues important to consumer protection and the veterinary medical profession in California. For example, the MDC has recently worked on updating citation and fine guidelines and the minimum standards of practice relating to hospital inspections. Members will be expected to attend approximately three meetings annually during their term. Upon appointment, committee members are required to comply with all state requirements and submit disclosure documents, the "Form 700", on Economic Conflicts of Interest with the Fair Political Practices Commission.

Licensees interested in seeking appointment to the MDC should provide a letter of interest addressed to the Board and any supporting background information the candidate desires to submit. Background information may include, but is not limited to, letters of recommendation, the candidates reasons for seeking appointment, a statement of understanding of the nature of regulatory bodies within the Department of Consumer Affairs or what ever other information the candidate believes is pertinent and would best assist the Board in making its decision on these appointments.

Letters of interest for appointment should be mailed to the:

Veterinary Medical Board
2005 Evergreen Street, Suite 2250
Sacramento CA 95815-3831

Letters of interest will be accepted until the appointment has been made; however, letters received by 5 p.m. October 5, 2012, will be considered at the Board's October 16-17, 2012, meeting in San Diego, CA. Appointments to the position may be made at that meeting. Applicants are welcome and encouraged to attend the meeting.

Questions regarding applications should be directed to Paul Sanchez or Ethan Mathes at (916) 263-2610.
